Lenherr , pronounced ( len - her), is a name originating in the town of Gams in St. Gallen Switzerland. It might mean "Lehn Herr", i.e., Lord of the Manor. A "Lehn" is a fief, a feudal land holding.

My Grandfather Frederick Xaver Lenherr (b. 1893) came to the US around 1914. My Great-Grandfather Friedrich Joseph Lenherr was a railroad conductor in Switzerland and died in 1904 at the age of 40. All I have found out about my Great-Great Grandfather is that his name was Joseph Anton Lenherr and that he was born around 1840.

Stefan Lenherr sent me one version of a Lenherr Coat of Arms. I have also been given another from my relatives but I now believe that one belongs to the Lehnherr name. I would also like feedback on these and other variations if they exist.
